Rookie Guilbault named to Canada's Team Red

Charlottetown Islanders rookie forward Samuel Guilbault has been named to Canada's Team Red roster for the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge taking place in Sarnia, Ont., from Nov. 2-8.

Guilbault, 16, was Charlottetown's second round, 24th overall, pick in the 2014 QMJHL Draft. He has picked up four assists in eight games so far this season.

In a team press release, Islanders General Manager Grant Sonier said the team is excited for Guilbault to represent his country.

"He is being rewarded for the tremendous amount of hard work and determination he has put in as a player."

Guilbault was one of three Islanders players eligible for the upcoming tournament. Mitchell Balmas and Keith Getson were the other two.

"All three were in contention to make the final rosters which speaks volumes to the exceptional job our scouting staff has done in identifying the top players for our organization," said Sonier.

Canada's Team Red opens the tournament on Nov. 2 against Slovakia at 7 p.m. EST.
