Islanders call up goaltender Grady



The Charlottetown Islanders have called up goaltender Grant Grady from the Kensington Vipers of the Island Junior Hockey League.

The Vipers tweeted the news yesterday.



Grady, 19, posted a 17-6 record with a 3.08 goals against average and a 0.910 save percentage with the Jr. B Vipers. He also went 4-0 with a 1.46 goals against average and a 0.957 save percentage in the playoffs.

The Kensington, P.E.I., native spent a brief time with the Moncton Wildcats during the 2012-13 season appearing in 5:35 of action.

Starting goaltender Mason McDonald will be out of action this weekend with a lower body injury and the Islanders will turn to backup Daryl MacCallum.

MacCallum should be expected to start tonight against the Saint John Sea Dogs and on Saturday in Moncton.

MacCallum has appeared in 21 games this season posting a 5-7 record with a 4.54 goals against average and 0.861 save percentage.

Islanders call up Shatford

The Charlottetown Islanders have called up forward Josh Shatford from the Bridgewater Lumberjacks of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League.

According to a tweet from Shatford himself, he is being called up until Nov. 10. He will join the team on Wednesday.

Shatford, who turns 18 in December, has eight goals and 11 points in eight games with the Lumberjacks this season. The Fox Point, N.S., native played the last game of the season for Charlottetown last season scoring a goal. He also appeared in two playoff games.

He was cut from Charlottetown's training camp on Aug. 25.

The Islanders are in Halifax on Wednesday Oct. 29 for a 7 p.m. puck drop.

Stavert and Johnson added to Islanders line up

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The Charlottetown Islanders have added forwards Thomas Stavert and Malik Johnson from the Summerside Western Capitals to their line up for tonight's Game 3 against the Halifax Mooseheads.

Both Stavert and Johnson have seen QMJHL action with the Islanders this season due to injuries.

Stavert, 18, scored 28 goals and 49 points in 47 games with Summerside of the MHL this season. The Kengsington, P.E.I. native scored a goal in his QMJHL debut on Feb. 26 against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

Johnson, also 18, scored seven goals and added eight assists in 19 games with the Capitals this season. He appeared in four games with the Islanders this season recording no points but seven penalty minutes and a minus-three rating.

It is unknown if Josh Shatford will be in the line up tonight. 

Game 3 goes tonight at Eastlink Centre with a 7 p.m. puck drop. Playoff action will resume tomorrow night for Game 4 at 7 p.m.
