Goulet returns to Islanders

Alexandre Goulet has been released from the Montreal Canadiens' rookie camp and will return to the Charlottetown Islanders tomorrow.

The Charlottetown Islanders tweeted the news this afternoon.


The 18-year-old Disreali, Que., native went undrafted at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft but was invited to both Montreal's development and rookie camps.

Goulet will be in the lineup this weekend when the Islanders play back-to-back games in Cape Breton against the Screaming Eagles on Friday and Saturday.

With Goulet's return, the Islanders now have four skaters and one goaltender at NHL rookie camps. Ryan MacKinnon, Ross Johnston, Mike DiPaolo, Oliver Cooper and Mason McDonald are still with their respective NHL rookie camps.

Goulet gets invite to Habs camp



According to Stephane Leroux, Charlottetown Islanders forward Alexandre Goulet has been invited to the Montreal Canadiens development camp.

The 18-year-old forward went undrafted this weekend at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in Philadelphia, Pa.

Goulet, a native of Disreal, Que., scored 26 goals and 48 points in 66 games during his rookie seasons with the Islanders. He was ranked 65th among North American skaters.

Along with Goulet, three other QMJHL players received the invite as well, which were: Bokondji Imama (Baie-Comeau), Philippe Gadoury (Halifax), and Matthew Highmore (Saint John).

Nevins picks up first point in pro debut

Former Charlottetown Islanders captain recorded an assist in his pro debut with the Hamilton Bulldogs on Saturday April 12.

The 20-year-old Stittsville, Ont. native played in his first game with American Hockey League team after being assigned to the Bulldogs after finishing his QMJHL season with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.

Nevins assisted on Joonas Nattinen's third period goal at 5:07. Hamilton lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Rochester Americans.

Nevins finished the game with a 0 rating and three shots on goal. The Bulldogs travel to Lake Erie on Tuesday April 15 against the Monsters.
