Charlottetown Islanders forward Filip Chlapik has set a new franchise record for most points in a single season by a rookie with 70.
The 17-year-old, Czech native drew an assist on Daniel Sprong's opening goal against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on March 11, 2015 for his 40th assist of the season. Chlapik has skated in 60 games so far this season with Charlottetown.
Chlapik surpasses previous record holder Chris Montgomery who set the record with 69 points in 59 games during the Montreal Rocket's inaugural season in 1999-00.
The Islanders drafted Chlapik with the 11th overall pick in the 2014 CHL Import Draft.
