Statistical Analysis
Shot Differential
Thoughts: Saint John was able to control and dictate most of the play in the first period. The Dogs were up 3-1 at one point in the second until Charlottetown rallied back with 18 shots in the second and controlled enough of the momentum in the third to bounce back with the win. A wide open back and forth affair that left the home fans something to cheer about.
PDO
Thoughts: The PDO score shows us that Charlottetown achieved a slightly better performance from their skaters and goaltenders then Saint John. I had predicted two wins this month against the Sea Dogs in the November preview and I have not been proven wrong.
Statistical Analysis
Thoughts: The Islanders were very fortunate to be up 2-0 in the early going. Like all good teams, however, Sherbrooke was able to do what they wanted in the third period and ended this close game with a goal in the last 20 seconds.
Thoughts: The Islanders have a higher PDO but that is due to the pronominal goaltending performance and a decent shooting percentage. But that shooting percentage came in with a low 23 shots. Sherbrooke was able to hit the net 40 times to eventually squeak the winner.
Statistical Analysis
Thoughts: Can we just say that the Wildcats have been this team's kryptonite this year? The Wildcats had their way with the Islanders for a good chunk of this game. Perhaps the Isles were depleted after strong efforts in the games against Saint John and Sherbrooke the nights leading up.
PDO
Thoughts: Further proof of the dominance displayed by the Wildcats. Islanders were not the benefactor of good shooting or save percentages this night.
Week Thoughts
Charlottetown went 1-2-0 against some pretty tough teams. What is worrying is that their goals against is climbing dramatically. The penalty kill has still been consistent but 5-on-5 play has been lacking. There has been some lineup shuffle as of late and an opportunity coming with Filip Chlapik gone to Czech Republic's World Junior training camp. Lets see if the Islanders can rebound with two games this week and a lot more rest this week.
