Islanders on NHL CSS Midterm Rankings

Earlier this afternoon the NHL Central Scouting Bureau released its midterm rankings for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft which takes place late June in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Top 10 sees: Connor McDavid (Erie, OHL), Jack Eichel (Boston University), Noah Hanifin (Boston College), Lawson Crouse (Kingston, OHL), Dylan Strome (Erie, OHL),  Zachary Werenski (University of Michigan), Mitchell Marner (London, OHL), Pavel Zacha (Sarnia, OHL) Matthew Barzal (Seattle, WHL) and Ivan Provorov (Brandon, WHL)

Five Charlottetown Islanders players made the midterm ranking including:

Filip Chlapik, 17th
Daniel Sprong, 20th
Kameron Kiellym 80th
David Henley, 99th
Alexandre Goulet, 163rd


All of which were mentioned in the CSS`s "Preliminary Players To Watch" which was released late September.

Division rival Saint John also has a heavy draft presence with nine players on the midterm ranking. This includes Jakub Zboril and Thomas Chabot in the first round among others.  QMJHL standouts Timo Meier (Halifax), Evgeny Svechnikov (Cape Breton), Jeremy Roy (Sherbrooke), Nathan Roy (Chicoutimi) and Guillaume Brisebois (Acadie-Bathurst) are also featured in the Top 30.

All 40 of the CHL/BMO Top Prospects game participants are ranked and can be seen Thursday evening on Sportsnet.

The CHL has a combined 150 out of the 210 players ranked.  The breakdown is: 53 OHL, 51 WHL and 46 QMJHL.
