Pair of Islanders in Top Prospects Game action tonight

A pair of Charlottetown Islanders forwards, and top prospects for the upcoming 2015 NHL Entry Draft, will be representing Team Cherry tonight at the 2015 BMO Top Prospects Game in St. Catharine's, Ont.

Daniel Sprong and Filip Chlapik will play against Team Orr at 8 p.m. AST broadcasted live in Sportsnet.

It is the second straight year the Islanders will be represented at the annual event. Mason McDonald suited up for Team Orr last season, but was named to the team while a member of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

The last franchise player to participate in the Top Prospects game was Chris Doyle in 2008.

Chalpik is ranked 17th among North American skaters in Central Scouting's mid-term rankings which were released on Tuesday. Sprong is ranked 20th among North American skaters.

The pair of Islanders will play along side of fellow QMJHLers on Team Cherry with: Anthony Beauvillier (Shawinigan), Evgeny Svechnikov (Cape Breton), Yakov Trenin (Gatineau), Dennis Yan (Shawinigan) and goalie Samuel Montembeault (Blainville-Boisbriand).

QMJHL players on Team Orr include: Timo Meier (Halifax), Nathan Noel (Saint John), Guillaume Brisebois (Acadie-Bathurst), Thomas Chabot (Saint John), Nicolas Meloche (Baie-Comeau) and Jeremy Roy (Sherbrooke).
