Wildcats' Eric Leger led the way with three goals as Benji Curtis and Shayne Dominie added singles. Curtis Scales and Keith Getson scored for the Islanders.
In the second period, Benji tied the game for the Wildcats at 3:37 with Alexandre Jacob and Sebastien Cormier drawing assists. Moncton took their first lead of the game with Leger burying his first of the game, on the power play, at 16:25. Mathieu Olivier and Zachary Malatesta drew assists. Moments later, Dominie scored a power play goal at 17:06 to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead. Cormier and Jacob drew assists. Wildcats outshot the Islanders 23-5.
With Islanders hopeful Duncan McKie serving a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for a hit to the head, the Wildcats struck twice on the long power play with Leger scoring both times at 10:23 and 13:42 respectively. Getson added one more for the Islanders at 19:12 with Mitchell Balmas and David Henley drawing assists.
Sebastien Dupre started for the Wildcats and made 11 saves on 12 shots in 30:40 played. Hugo Talbot-Tissi finished the game and allowed one goal on eight shots.
Darryl MacCallum started for the Islanders allowing one goal on 26 shots in 32:19 played. Logan Cookie finished the game making 10 saves in 27:41 played.
The Islanders host the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the Pownal Sports Centre today at 3 p.m. for their second exhibition game.
