For the first time this season, the Charlottetown Islanders will see action from a Quebec-based team and will take on the former President Cup Champions Val-d'Or Foreurs.

Both teams only met twice last season, with each team picking up blow-out victories. Val-d'Or took the first meeting by a 9-4 score on Oct. 4, 2013 in Val-d'Or, before the Islanders got their revenge beating the Foreurs 7-1 on home ice on Oct. 17, 2013.

The Foreurs lost a lot of key players who were part of their trip to the Memorial Cup tournament in May. Forward Anthony Mantha will be going pro with the Grand Rapids Griffins, forward Louick Marcotte was traded to Gatineau, forward Samuel Henley graduated from the league, defenceman Guillaume Gelinas graduated from the league, defenceman and former Islander Ryan Graves was traded to Quebec and goalie Antoine Bibeau is set to play for the Toronto Marlies this season.

Val-d'Or has lost five-straight games after winning their first two games of the season. The Islanders have lost two-straight games, but the latest loss came via shootout on Wednesday against the Saint John Sea Dogs.

For the ninth game this season, the Islanders will be without forward Ross Johnston.
