Islanders sign Chaddock

The Charlottetown Islanders have signed forward Chris Chaddock, Islanders General Manager Grant Sonier announced today.

The 17-year-old was skating and practicing with the team last week but was never singed until today. He is expected to make his debut Wednesday in Halifax.

“Chris was presented with the opportunity to come in and practice with the team and based on his performance to date, we feel he deserves the chance to play," said Sonier in a team press release.

Chaddock only stands five-foot-seven and started this season with the Ontario Hockey Academy. Last season, Chaddock spent the season with the Wyoming Seminary of the USHS scoring 42 goals and 96 points in 35 games. In 2012-13, he played with fellow Islanders forward Daniel Sprong with the Lac St-Louis Tigres in Midget Espoir scoring 21 goals and 49 points in 31 games.

Earlier today, the Islanders called up 18-year-old Josh Shatford. The two roster moves come with Samuel Guilbault and Mitchell Balmas heading to the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge taking place Nov. 2-8 in Sarnia-Lambton, Ont.

Islanders forward Ross Johnston is expected out of the lineup until at least Nov. 15.
