"Big Dipper" off to Blue Jackets' main training camp

Charlottetown Islanders defenceman Mike DiPaolo has earned a spot on Columbus Blue Jackets' main training camp roster.

After participating in the Traverse City Prospects Tournament, the 20-year-old Brantford, Ont. native will get to join current Blue Jacket players and hopefuls for the team's training camp which opens Thursday, Sept. 18 in Columbus, Ohio. The main camp will run until Friday Sept. 26.

DiPaolo was a free agent pickup by the Islanders in October of 2013. The six-foot-four, 213-pound heavyweight recorded four assists in 51 games and the league in penaly minutes with 165.
