Islanders painting to rink pink this weekend

The Charlottetown Islanders are preparing for a two-game home stand this weekend with the fight against Breast Cancer taking center stage.

On Friday evening, the Islanders will take on the Val-d'Or Foreurs at 7 p.m. Members from the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the CIBC Run for the Cure will be on hand selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a limited edition Pink jersey to be worn by the team on Saturday night in the game against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at 7 p.m.

For the game Saturday night, the Charlottetown Islanders are inviting all breast cancer survivors to the game free of charge and will be acknowledging them in a pregame ceremony.

“We wanted to come up with a way to acknowledge the courage and tenacity of our Island Breast Cancer survivors, above and beyond just raising money," said Islanders President of Hockey Operations Craig Foster. "It makes it a lot more meaningful when you can see those who have fought the battle and won. Of course, we want to also acknowledge the courage of those who lost their fight with this terrible disease with a moment of silence prior to the game."
