Jevpalovs, Armada downs Islanders 4-2



Nikita Jevpalovs scored a hat-trick to lead the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada to a 4-2 win over the visiting Charlottetown Islanders Saturday evening.

The Islanders are now 1-1 on its three-in-three road trip and are 9-11-1-1 on the season. The Armada improves to 12-6-0-2.

Latvian native Jevpalovs opened the scoring just 3:28 into the game with his 14th goal of the season. Danick Martel and Brendan Hamelin drew assists.

Jevpalovs struck again at the 10:54 mark to give the Armada a 2-0 lead. Hamelin drew the lone assist.

The Islanders cut the lead in half with 26 seconds left in the frame as Bradley Kennedy buried his sixth of the season on the power play. Filip Chlapik and Daniel Sprong drew assists.

In the second period, Jevpalovs added his third to give the Armada a 3-1 lead at 1:56.

The Islanders made it a one-goal game at 3:04 with Kameron Kielly's eighth goal of the season. Oliver Cooper and Sprong drew assists.

The Armada re-gained the two-goal lead once again with Alexandre Delisle-Houde's third of the season at 16:11.

Going into the third period, the Islanders were outshot 30-7. There was no scoring in the third period but the Islanders doubled its total in shots for 15 in total on the night. Armada fired three on net in the third period for a game total of 33.

Samuel Montembeault made 13 saves in the winning cage for Blainville. Mason McDonald took the loss for Charlottetown making 29 saves.

The Islanders wrap up its three-in-three tomorrow evening in Drummondville for a 5 p.m. AST puck drop.
